G'Day

It's a been a long while. Too long(!):U

I'll cut to the chase. What is more useful - a Random Orbital Sander or a Finishing sander. I'm happy to use hand-sanding but I have the chance to get a Makita Finishing Sander for 50 bucks..

Is it a waste to finish with a machine, or are you better off starting off with a ROS - ie. saving up for a ROS and using that initially.

(My wife has just asked me what I am typing. I told her I was asking about sanding. Why? Machinery? eh? Money? er yup. Cue rolleyes.:U

cheers,

ROS - definitely.

I have a finishing sander I never use. Sand paper comes off all the time, does a crap job unless you are doing some rough stuff and then it doesn't matter much.

For a good job, get a ROS.

No contest ROS.

Any ROS (unless it's broken) is better than any old style orbital on a flat surface.

ROS is the best although before we had ROS's we all used orbital sanders and they did the job
