Rubber Wood Table

I have a friend asking advice on repairing a dining-room table. The table is made from solid Rubber Wood and is/was finished in a semi gloss. Young Nephews made a mess on the top and Mum cleaned it off with a scourer. Now when you look at it in a certain light you can see where the polish has been ripped off.

Any ideas on putting it right would be appreciated. <O:p></O:p>
