pvc decking

Hi everyone

I have been asked to build a deck with pvc decking. I have found some companies that do it but none in sydney.
Firstly does anyone know suppliers of PVC decking in
sydney.
Secondly is it a good product, I understand its meant to be maintaince free apart from cleaning it occasionally
Thirdly what about the cost.

Any help would be appricated

I considered it for our new deck but ended up with Merbu.

That plastic deck was on display at the local Bunnings store but it's not at all of them. I think it looked OK but there's nothing better than proper timber for a classy look. I believe its called Mod deck or something and comes in a couple of colours.

My builder mate put in on his holiday house deck purley for the maintenance free quality. He put timber down at his home.

Plastic is plastic, wood is beautiful

Very popular in the States. I'm a bit concerned about how stable it is in hot weather.
As Gumby says wood is beautiful.
It is also renewable and doesn't need heavy metals added to stabilise the product like plastic.
Talk them out of it on environmental grounds.

NSW Parks and Wildlife have use recycled plastic lumber as stair treads and walkway decking on some amenity blocks in far western NSW in the past. They found that the hot weather and harsh sunlight would make them 'move' with the temperature. Being fixed in place at the time, the stress of this cause some pieces to begin to break up.....I never saw the result but they were binned fairly rapidly.

I think it comes down to having everything in its right place. It's nice to use recycled materials but sometimes not everywhere or every poduct is appropriate....

Don't like it but that's a personal thing. It's not acceptable in a bushfire area.
