Installing Wall Oven

Hi guys,
I have just purchased a new double oven to replace my old one, and the problem I have is the new oven is not wide enough or long enough for the cutout that already exists from the old one, the cutout is approx 50mm too wide and 40mm too long, can you guys come up with any suggestions.

This is becoming a common problem by the look of it. A couple of months ago I helped a sparky with a wall oven install and the client had had a stainless steel shroud fabricated to cover the gap. Was glued on with contact cement.

My problem is that I have nothing there to screw the oven too on the sides when it is installed.

Why not fix some timber around the edge of the opening to bring it out to the size required and the fix a stainless steel surround to cover the timber but you will then have something to fix the oven to.

There is usually no weight or pressure of signifigance on the screws holding the oven in, all the weight is on the base. You may have so insert some blocks under the oven to lift it slightly

As Barry says he is on the money. Set your packers under first then centre the oven make side pakers and top packers to size and fit shroud of SS

Also ensure you have enough power supply to carry the twin oven loading

I've got the same problem. All I plan on doing (haha eventually) is to fill the gaps around the oven with chipboard or similar, then clue on some aluminium sheeting to cover it all up. Aluminium is cheaper and eaier to work than SS, and I have an aluminium finished oven that it matches well.

As it isn't structural, you should be OK to do whatever looks the best.
