OK you Guys, HELP!!!
Not having had much success in my posting under "Electrical" for disolving lacquer on antique brass, I'll try this for all paint experts.
I've tried buffing with 0000 steel wool with a degree of success but it would take many, many hours of hard slog. Paint stripper and acetone don't seem to make an impression. The piece in question is an antique ornate brass and ceramic chandelier. Any ideas from anyone?

Try soaking it in lacquer thinners.
Otherwise sand it off with fine wet & dry paper

thinners, if it is truly antique take it very slowly the last thing you want to do is marr the original brass
