Seeking any advice on painting childrens toys. Are there any suitable non-toxic paints. Non-toxic acrylics are available, but I'm told they're not very durable. Food colouring doesn't have the range of colours I need and might be murky on darker woods. Are ordinary oil paints and clear finishes toxic? TIA

Alex,
have a look at the following link for dyes.
Ubeaut dyes (http://www.ubeaut.com.au/dye.html)
Never used them myself but have seen the results and they speak for themselves.

I'd like to second Soundmans plug for Neils book. I also got it from Neil at the show and have just finished reading it (I will be reading/refering to it a lot in the future as well). Everything you want to know about finishing/staining/colouring/effects/etc/etc.
Great Book Neil!! (gRovel gRovel) #Gees Wayne, if you are gonna do it spell it right:D .
