Having just purchased a piece of Beefwood with a beautiful burl in it with the plan of using it on a deck as a small bar/ledge Im not too sure how we should be finishing it to get that really nice smooth silky finish. We were told to use Sikkens but Im not sure if we are being given the right advice. As you can tell I have no idea what would be the best way to finsh the timber and any help would be greatly appreciated.Oops dont know if it is going to matter but it has been given a coat of Sikkens allready.

Hi Pantotango,
Did you buy your Beefwood from AZT and if so did they recommend the Sikkens?
BTW: How much was the Beefwood/metre?

We brought it off a furniture maker at Maleny . He sells all sorts of stuff but unfortunatley he is away and his sales guy told us to use sikkens. Not sure what it was per metre as we just brought the slab its approx 2.8 metres long and maybe 30cm wide but where the burl is maybe 50-60cm wide .

Oh and we paid about $230 for it.
