Just purchased a 1920s house with original timber floors in original condition.
Havnt fully lifted carpets but a few peeks have revealed one room has what appears to be jarrah and the remainder have unfinished pine of some type. There is no black japan
it appears the pine floors were originally covered with lino or wall to wall carpet.
Some questions:
The jarrah has its original finish - what is this likely to be and is there a way of renovating it?
For the pine floors we are considering having them sanded and coated. Any suggestions what is best? Have had tung oil in previous house on cypress and black-butt which I was happy with (other than the regular maintenance). I have heard there is a finish that can harden the pine to resist denting - is this true?
Regards
