I got a Canon PowerShot A630 for Christmas. :)

Here is a sample close up of a moth.

The focus is not quiet right for the dept of field but that is 'cos I used manual focus.

You can tell it's not a NZ sheep, they train theirs to lay on their backs. That's so they can be kissed at the same time! I'm not sure what that means, honest.

I agree.

These were the rules that IAN007 posted last year.

In another post it was discussed that we should take pictures of this Great Country we call home and post them to share the wonders of this nation with each other and our foreign friends.

So Boys & Girls take pictures in the week starting 19/1/2006 and post them on Australia day 26/1/2006.

Some ideas
Sunsets, Beaches, The Rock, Sydney Harbour, Blue Mountains, Rotnest Island, The Grampians, The Great Ocean Road, WildLife, City Shots or the like.

so lets see how we go

Cheers Ian:)

Post location, date and time.

I wouldn't mind having a bit more time to take the photo. How about from 1/1/07 till the 25th. Post any time till the end of Jan?

Well Cliff
I thought the picture of the moth was pretty cool, so here we are nearly a year on so I guess you are pretty gung ho with that camera by now.

How about some more interesting pictures.

Yeah I got a Pentax DSLR 1000KD with a Tamron SP AF90mm F/2.8 Di Macro Lens. Mainly Pentax because I had an old SLR and the lenses are interchangable.

I have a bit to learn yet...

Cliff those Powershots are pretty popular how are you finding it?

Cliff Rogers

Good shots, :2tsup: I like the look on that spider's face. :D

I haven't done much with my new camera yet, about 10 shots so far, mainly testing what it can do.

I did my homework & it came up very good in reviews on the internet.
The only real problem it has is with red eyes & that doesn't bother me too much 'cos I don't take that many party shots & red eye is easy to fix with software.

I did some searching for prices & scored it from the Camerastore.com.au of $399.00

I lashed out on the memory stick, got a 1Gb Extreme III high speed stick for $65.00

Freight was $16.00

With 8mp it wont take long to fill up that 1g card!

Grunt
29th December 2006, 10:28 PM
It's 10mp so it'll fill it up even faster.

Harry72

Nup, the PS A640 is 10mp... Cliff has the 630.

With mine(EOS400D) 1g is about 200 shots, lucky for 4g cards... 8g cards be nice but a bit exxcy still, better spend on lenses like thisy one http://www.canon.com.au/products/visual/cameras_lenses_accessories/ultrawide_zoom_lenses/efs10-22mm.html.

Oops,

Anyway, you can buy multiple cards. Remember back when you were a boy and you used film? 36 shots to a roll.

Sheer luxury, I could only afford 12 shot rolls. :(

I'm still learning to use my Canon Powershot A430.

Landscape with the image set for small (email friendly) 640 x 480 pixels or 80Kb. My fishing/camping spot.

I've also been playing with the stitch settings for pics of my garden beds, which coupled with macro shots of the individual plants will be sent to the local plant nursery as a part of their 'electronic catalogue display'. :2tsup:
Not too bad results, even without a tripod.

Fun.

Hey Cliff,

Buy cameras using the same theory as buying a computer. Decide how much money you want to spend, what you want to use the camera for and then buy the best you can with the money you have.

Buy one of the common brands

Nikon
Canon
Pentax
