Naomi Robson has left the building!
Nothing personal Naomi, but the last ten years have been the most contrived, disingenuous, IQ damaging years I've seen on TV.
Yes, you stayed for ten years, but, like McDonalds, just because a lot of people eat it does not mean the content is good for your health.
I hope they replace her with someone who can think without a teleprompter.

I sort of agree with both Gumby & Groggy. She is only a presenter, but she's also fed by "producers"......"writers".......and other rating seekers.
I've only ever watched her for about 10 minutes total in those 10 years, as I'm sort of allergic to that sort of woman. (Yes!..I can't stand colligen lips)
I think she did a good thing by quitting......give someone else a go.....and maybe she's just seen footage of herself in Kahki with a Lizard on her shoulder.
Vale Naomi......who??

Unfair comment in my view. They are presenters, that's all.I said "Nothing personal Naomi" and I actually meant it. I am sure she is a nice person and all that, and genuinely is sad to leave. However, the Wallies that made her a front person, put her in cling wrap and decided the syrupy format she followed - eeyyeecchh. I'd actually prefer Derryn Hinch - and that is saying a heck of a lot.
News and current affairs should not be editorialised, it should be presented as factually as possible without spin or favour. Any commentary should be informed and not try to form opinions where the facts are not there to support it.
I really hope it is the end of an era of "fast food" television.

Of equal interest is the imminent departure of Jessica "The Skull with Skin" Rowe. Known for her ability to show poor taste and incredible lack of tact and her insincerity, she will be leaving on (hopefully) permanent Mat. leave. Known for her ability to "earn" huge salaries with no apparent match of skills, she is now a self professed expert on Pregnancy and no doubt will enter the "Jessica's baby fears" circuit shortly.

This forum is my entertainment...which keeps me from watching current affair shows......which are a bit un-important in the greater scheme of things.
It gets worse out in the sticks......as every female presenter on regional television has been to Jana Wendt school....they all sound like her!
I'll stick to the net & the forum for advice and entertainment.

This forum is my entertainment...which keeps me from watching current affair shows.......We're here because we can't get real jobs on TV. Personally I take that as a compliment :).
What TV needs are some Als, Gumby's and Zeds. The occasional Christopha, a Scooter or two and a RufflyRustic. Keep them in line with a Major and some Alex's. Sprinkle a bit of authority with some Skews, Dereks and Apricotrippers. For a break take a Benny, Cliff and Felder show.
If things get out of hand you've always got the dancing show or Neil with Thor's hammer.
Sorry if I missed anyone, everyone adds value :o .

Work has started on the Avooooooocaaaaa skate board park basically to stop that little bunch from knocking old people over and to give the gun club a few chances..(up....down....up....down)
Eileen Reeves retired today after 30 years in Lalor's Pharmacy...the oldest continuosly operating Pharmacy in Victoria since 1834 or something. Didn't go, as it was a BYO food and grog, which is sad...you'd reckon somebody would donate a few snags for Avoooooocaaaaaaaa's longest serving drug pusher.

The lack of NR on the TV is a further incentive to return home.
But the horrifying thought - who are they going to use as a replacement?
B'cos the earlier posters are right - it's the producers who make these 'current affairs' shows terrible and they will choose someone just as revolting as NR if not worse so that the formula will continue.

At least, unlike some TV personalities (?) she hasn't attempted to sing...................yet.
Why do TV puppets think they can sing, and release CD's?

What a load of vitriolic outpourings against Naomi Robson. I am abhorred and disgusted at such nastiness. Whilst it was said that it was nothing personal they are surely very personal attacks against her.
And why ? Just because she retired from hosting Today Tonight which she has done for the last ten years and, incidently took that program to its highest ratings ever, something that previous hosts were unable to do.
Yes TT (or ACA for that matter) isn't a current affairs program. Its pap to the masses appealing to the lowest common denominator in the masses in order to sell advertising dollars, but so is every program on commercial television. The host has little to say as to what goes in the program and the next host will not have any say as well as it's the producers and writers that decide the nature of the program.
Those who think that the host is responsible for the content or nature of the show have a lot to learn about TV shows as well as a bit of personal restraint and common decency when discussing Noimi's role and personality.
Whilst at first I wasn't going to post I feel I must register my protest lest my silence be taken as acquiescence of these vitriolic and nasty outpourings.
I am appalled at this thread and most of the comments made (and its posters) and I think it ought to be deleted.

With all due respect - everyone has a choice as to how they will live their lives.
If someone chooses to peddle that tripe, then regardless of whether it is 'just a job', I think it is fair to judge them on their merits.

Since you've quoted my "Nothing personal" comment (and I was the only one to use those words) I have to assume you are referring to what I have said is "vitriolic, nasty and very personal". I think you should say what, specifically, meets that description Peter. I have referred to the show, not her personally - except for the comment about the teleprompter, that single comment was, perhaps, unfair; unless you listen to the link below.
And why ? Just because she retired from hosting Today Tonight which she has done for the last ten years and, incidently took that program to its highest ratings ever, something that previous hosts were unable to do.Peter, here you give her credit for taking the show to new heights but two paragraphs down you claim the host is NOT responsible, you can't have it both ways and expect it to go unchallenged.

Trying to stop the public from commenting on them would have to be introducing a double standard.
Since you raise common decency and her personality (I didn't as it is off-air), here are 34 seconds of her life "off-air" from the SMH (http://media.smh.com.au/?rid=16033&site=smh&sy=smh&source=smh.com.au%2Fnews%2FTV--Radio%2FRobson-lets--rip%2F2005%2F05%2F24%2F1116700699964.html) (<- caution, lots of swearing).

Peter and CLinton,
You are both pretty close to the mark IMHO.
I see it this way. There's an old saying "I sold my soul for Rock'n' Roll. This implies that the unhappy rocker out of greed or desire for money, gave away his right of artistic creativity in the music he writes and the way it is recorded. People like those mentioned here are responsible for taking the positions they did and effectively said to hell with my credibility. So be it, thats the way they want to exist (I wouldn't call it living), but by taking this position, they identify their opinions with that of the show they are presenter (or talking head) for.
They put themselves in the public domain and thus are open to ridicule and adoration. Eventually they must pay the piper. Jana Wendt left channel nine because she felt the show's and her credibility would suffer with a change of format for Sunday. Like her or not she has credibility through her education and work in news journalism early on. Naomi Robson and Jessica Rowe are in my opinion, shallow, devious and concerned only with the furtherment of their own situation. Perhaps Ms Robson has now begun to realise that you have there's no such thing as a free lunch, so she's getting out, albeit considerably richer financially, but not in character. Lets hope its not too late.
So Peter, you can't delete a thread where people are giving their opinions of something in the public domain and Clinton, you are right that we all have the right to live our lives, but never forget the repercussions of actions you perform every day. We do have a responsibility to each other.:)
This was in no way designed to cause angst or grief, its just the opinions of a broken down old phart
Regards,
Rob

Greg,
Whilst the host is not directly reponsible for the contents she did ,through her delivery and the manner in which she linked the various topics, raisde the program to be the top of its field. Not trying to have it bothg ways but her hosting talents raised the show. Something that the many others before her failed to do.
These shows intrude on other peoples lives, especially those in the public eye, claiming "public interest" as the reason they can say whatever it is they are saying. Trying to stop the public from commenting on them would have to be introducing a double standard.
No problem with criticising the show or its contents but as I've posted before some comments made of her personally are IMO totally unacceptable.
