Welcome back viewer...

I have been doing some selling on Ebay of late, and some of the payments come via Paypal which is an Ebay owned company.

Just this morning I received a notification from Paypal that a dispute has been raised by one of the buyers.

Ok, go to Paypal and see whats going on.

 All my funds have been frozen until the dispute is resolved, resolved in the buyers favour of course.

The buyer changed their mind about the product and sent it back, no emails, no discussion, nothing.

I also got a note from the post office about a parcel to be picked up on the same day.
The parcel came back from France so they had time to email me etc, but no nothing.

JUst a warning for all you Paypalers out there.

I wont be useing Paypal again.

SWMBO has a paypal account, She's used it once had a problem very similar to you and never used it again. Unfortunate part is in some cases there is no alternative yet.

Interesting post Al.
I just emailed Paypal and asked them why they don't act fairly and reasonably.

If they don't have a good reason I might put the cat amongst the canaries.
(They must be a registered financial instition under Oz laws)

As soon as I have my affairs settled with the disgruntled buyer I will be closing mine too.

Ferk Paypal, all the fees Ive paid of late must be in the $200ish mark ....30 cents here, $1.90 here, it soon adds up

http://www.ubeaut.biz/homer.gifDoh! What a prick. I have read much about the dreaded PayPal chargeback, but thankfully has never happened to me, nor have I had to dish one out.

I always empty out my account straight away no matter how much is in it.
Was yours empty when they froze it? I believe even if it is empty, they can still debit the account.

Have a search and read through the PayPal forums on Ebay, and you can find out what option you have.

My alternative is simple ....I don't use it was stung once now if the seller doesn't have another option I don't bid. Most stuff on epay comes up fairly regular again

I took my eye off the ball for a day or two, and there was just under the "disputed" amount, so of course Paypal slugged me $8 for not having enough funds.

The transaction was never disputed, all the buyer had to do was contact me.

The other thing is that because I didnt have enough in the account to repay the buyer, I have to transfer funds to Paypal and that will take upto 3 days, so it looks to the buyer as if I dont wont to refund the money.

Never again with Paypal, trust me.

Suspicions confirmed. "Once burnt, twice shy." Except for me, Never burnt, many times shy. I've only once used credit card via internet because it was the only way to make a vital transaction. For optional purchases, if they don't have a dial-up number, with all conventional protections to both sides, I pass.

Thanks for the link, Coldamus. I don't know how they can actually get away with this. According to my imperfect understanding, common law for contracts requires "meeting of the minds." One-sided "Terms of Service" is not that.

Frankly, I don't trust much of anything on the weird wild web. Except right here, of course.:)

Sniffer I dont buy from epay sellers from honkers china err asia in fact very little from overseas to easy to be ripped off. Though I buy the odd one from the US but only if the seller will accept payment other than paypal ...generally directly by card and have no probs but they are the large retailers there (mainly tools)
