Installing a Compressor

A small tip that will help preserve any compressor tank. When you install a compressor get it up off the floor and remove the drain valve. Screw a bit of pipe into where the valve came from with the drain valve in the end of the pipe. This means that the condensate collects in the pipe not the tank and if you forget to drain it like I do then it doesn't really do the tank any harm.

Good tip, I assume it would have to be a pretty good fit, any chance of pics? Also what material did you use for the pipe?

My compressor is really old and I found that a galvanised pipe elbow screwed into it and I just put a gate valve on that. The pipe material is not really important as long as it is safe at the working pressure of the compressor. It does not even need to be very long as a 100mm piece of pipe will hold a fair bit of water. I will try and post a pic but that may have to wait until the xmas rush is over as I am working 14 hour days at the moment, the joy of working for Ozzi Post at xmas.
