The presidents of Cascade (Tasmania), Tooheys (New South Wales), XXXX(<!--?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comhttp://woodworkforums.com/ /--><st1:state w:st=Tasmania</st1:state>), Tooheys (<st1:state w:st=" /><st1:State w:st=" on"="">Queensland</st1:state>) and <st1:City w:st="on">Carlton</st1ity> (<st1:state w:st="on"><st1:pVictoria</st1l</st1:state>) were at an international beer conference.
They decide to all go to lunch together and the waitress asks what they want to drink.
<o:p</o
The president of Tooheys says without hesitation "I'll have a Tooheys New."
<o:p</oThe president of Cascade smiles and says "I'll have a Cascade Draught, brewed from pure mountain water!"
<o:p</oThe <st1:City w:st="on">Carlton</st1ity> president proudly says "I'll have a <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:pCarlton</st1ity>, the King of Beers!"</st1
<o:p</o
The bloke from XXXX glances at his lunch mates and says, "I'll have a Pepsi."
<o:p</o
The others look at him like he has sprouted a new head.
He just shrugs and says, "Well if you blokes aren't drinking beer, then neither will I."

You can't buy New here.... Get it on Qantas; get it at The Oaks... but not anywhere in this fair land. Is that a conspiracy? OK, I'll drink cold XXXX if pushed, not too hard.

Unfortunately - most beers today are are b@gg***d by the watering down to make so called light beer as some sort of tokenism that you can drink light beer and still do things that any sane person wouldn't -- like driving.
That whole sorry issue aside - light beer could best be summed up by ....
Destroys the full taste
Have a few and you'll do the bed to the small room walk all night
If you sent a sample away for analysis - I'm sure the reply would be
"...this horse is unfit for work"

Hi Popawisky, as I recall Bilimba was brewed in Toowoomba by Carlton and XXX was brewed there also, by Castlemain. As I recall, someone will tell me if I am wrong.
You would have been drinking that in the 70's I think.

Emu bitter was proberly the worst Aus beer I ever had, drank it in port hedland one afternoon as there was nothing else available they forgot to take the feathers off the emu  , definately the worst headace, was told later that they put arsnic in it as a preservitive for the far north. and that S.A. beer southeck (not sure of the spelling) runs a good second.

The best name for a brew was for a small brewery in melbourne: PI55
They put in their company name and someone in ASIC asked the general counsel of ASIC whether they could refuse to register it. I am glad to say that his opinion was that they could not refuse the registration.

DEAD FROG is actually a craft brewery in the Fraser Valley, east of Vancouver.
Their Nut Brown Ale is really quite good.
