Does anyone know about an iceberg which is supposedly close to New Zulland?

Apparently there are two with the closest about 80km off the south coast.

No worries "Dick Smith" is going to tow it into Sydney harbour to assist in solving the Sydney drinking water problems.;)

Some enterprising brewer should hack them up for a special commemorative beer http://www.ubeaut.biz/cheers.gif made with the purest water in the world. http://www.ubeaut.biz/drunk2.gif

Probably not, but the Cook Strait Ferry ride could become a doozy!

They aren't small icebergs either.

One of the reporters landed on this one in a chopper and filmed some footage that was on TV tonight. You could see it from the hills around Dunedin today.

Looks pretty big to me. I remember hearing/reading somewhere that what you see above the water is only about 10% of the thing. Dunno whether that's right or not but that's one big block of ice.

People say they are visible from the top of Signal Hill here in Dunedin - not today though - raining.... How can it be global warming if there is an iceberg off Dunedin? Get a grip! Must be global freezing. If NZ sinks, will someone please try and retrieve my saw, buzzer, planes... offcuts... Oh - yeah, build a boat... right... sail to OZ - snakes.... urgghhhh......

Nah... that is a filthy rumour to stop people settling on them. Dey's pristine apparently. Made of rain that fell at the beginning of time or something. No snakes hiding in the sawdust there.

Isn't it global warming that causes the iceburgs to break away though?

Actually, its probably Stewart Island, taken over by Bluff Oysters preparing to reek havoc on Invercargill. The only thing between them and humanity is a disciplined band of Bikies. (Bluff itself froze long ago.)

I heard that some of Shackleton's dogs are on board. Pretty tough if it melts before they scramble ashore for a feed of oysters...
