I'm looking at continuing the deck i built and cover up these ugly concrete stepsi have.
So i started off painting the steps black so you can't seeany of the grey concrete through the gaps in the deck, now im looking at either using galvanised tophats screwed to the concrete OR dyna bolting H4 treated pine bearers. But with using the timber im thinking of using galvanised washers or plastic washer between the timber and the concrete to keep it up to allow for water and moisture to dry out so the timber doesn't rot.
Has anyone done this before or is the gal steel tophats a better idea.

Also is H4 treated pine any good to use and to keep in mine i only have about 40-50 to play with in height. What would be the best timber to use in this situation

The concrete steps are about 2 metres wide with only just two steps to cover.

Another thing is that im also looking at cutting small long channels along the steps with a grinder and concrete cutter to allow for better drainage.

Hi Guys

Gather you have it sorted by now but if not heres how its done...

Get 70 x 45 treated pine and fasten it to the concrete with split anchors and sikaflex or similar then deck as per normal.... I prefer screwing the boards so they don't loosen on the stairs
