We are soon to rip out the old kitchen and put in a new kitset one. We will probably be selling this house in about a years time and were wondering do the forum members feel it is worthwhile putting in a dishwasher.
Also if anyone can give me an idea of cost of getting a dishwasher wired and plumbed in it would be great

Even if you don't install a dishwasher, it's worthwhile making space for one if you are thinking of selling soon. Think resale value.

All you really need to do is have a sparky put a powerpoint under your sink. They're pretty easy to install yourself as long as the power is available.

Yep if you do put one in just a cheapie will help the sale. Talk to a real estate agent if you need more convincing.

Exactly. At least create the space for one, even if you don't insatll it.

As for wiring, they just plug in. The electrician should install a power point under the bench for it and the plumber puts in the tap. Then you just bring it home, plug it in, put the inlet on the under bench tap, the outlet on the drain hole which protrudes from the U-bend pipe and away you go. Be careful, those connections for the outlet on the U-bend are sealed so you need to break that open.

YES! We are a family of 6, and up until about 18 months ago always washed dishes by hand. A friend gave us a dishwasher, and we had it fitted when we renovated the kitchen. I honestly can't think of a better kitchen device! It makes life one hell of a lot easier, and all we need to wash by hand are frypans and saucepans, although they could go in too. And ours uses less water than doing the dishes in the sink!

Get one - even a cheapie - you will love it and it will add to the desirability of your home when you sell.

Fisher paykel produce a two drawer unit which we have and it is great but if I had my druthers I would have installed a single drawer unit each side of my sink with a normal drawer below each unit. For conveniance it allows you to put glasses crocrkey in one ane pots etc in the other they are a drawer so you are not bending down all the time and the seal door hinge porblems are removed, have a look, dollars don't matter when you put it into your kitchen or bathroom cause you always get the returne when you sell and the value while you live there
