Spraying Again

I am new to this spraying game but find it usefull for some jobs .
Up till now most of the timber I have used is raw so I use sanding sealer first then a couple of coats of top coat. What I am wondering is a job I had to do today required the timber {pine} to be stained, can this replace the sanding sealer as it is doing a similar job. Or is it best to still go through the motions and use the sanding sealer then the top coat. I am using mirotone if that makes any differance.

Yumpin Yimminy - Stain is colour. Sanding sealer is basically a grain filler and a cheap first coat that can be easily sanded back to give you a silky smooth surface to build your final coats of lacquer upon.

Neither do the job of the other. Oh yeah, and make sure you use the right stain or you could be in deep doo doo. A spirit stain with nitro will bleed into the finish. Oil stain will need to dry for at least 24 hours or you may affect the finish. Water dye or stain is bloody fantastic, but may raise the grain if pre wetting and sanding is not done. Chemical dyes, also great but many are dangerous and also need to be pre wet and sanded.
