Hi

We are currently trying to prep the outside of our house for painting. We have sanded the knots in the weatherboards and painted them with an oil base primer, sealer and undercoat. However cracks have now appeared where all the knots are. Is there a special filler that we should have used?
Cheers

G'day Deidre, HAd a similar prob with the veranday rafters on our new bit. For the knot holes that were obvious I filled with Red Devil exterior filler. For the cacks and holes that appeaed after I had painted, I filled with builders bog (a two-part epoxy type filler), smoothed off while still workable, sanded after it had cured, and spot-painted over. No probs yet, just a pain. The weatherboards may still move a bit as the weather warms up and continues to be dry - maybe wait another month before repairing?

Hope this helps - I was born in Ballarat (shivering):)
