View Full Version : EMERGENCY - Require Urgent Information

Hi,

Yes this could be a do or die situation for me (well that's what the wife said) as I stupidly looked us out of our house this morning but I did have the keys for the garage/workshop;). I had a quick thought that I would get in via a lower panel in the front door. As you can see I cut through most of it and I have just returned from Bunnings who don't sale the item:mad:. So can someone tell me if this insert is given a proper name in the door/cabinet industry.

Is there a place in the northern suburbs of Melbourne where I can purchase such an item?.

I would also like advice on how I remove the remaining parts in the door - is it from removing the beading at the front or back?. I tried removing both sides but not with much success:(.

Can't you reglue the cut out back into the door and fasten with some panel pins. Once dry you can patch it up with builders bog and repaint.

BTW would have been easier to lift up some roofing tiles and get in like a burglar.:D

I doubt you will buy one off the shelf>You will either need to get one machined,or just buy a new door.

Yeah we did the same thing some time ago, me an the missus were going to go for a walk, got the keys hun?
Yep was the reply, only to find out on our return she had grabed the keys for her work place.

I soon found a brick and got in through a window.

There's a good chance you'll find there is no beading and 'tis all just moulded into the rails & stiles, with the panels being inserted before the last of the frame went into place... :(

Odds are that buying a new door will give you a better chance of success.

Builders bog is not so good in doors, tends to break out over time, two pot epoxy gel is great though (used as a bog)
