A few weeks ago I was involved with the organisation and running of a garage sale at the Fire Brigade. The community were asked to donate items that we could sell off to raise funds.
I was looking after my nine month old daughter on the morning of the sale, so my commitment to the occasion revolved around her sleeping needs. As a result, by the time I turned up, most of the setting up had been done. :D
There was, however, a few items yet to be displayed on tables.
I was holding my little one and chatting to one of my mates who was unloading the last box, when he pulled out a toy that made my daughter very excited indeed! Her face lit up, her arms started flapping and she made a lunge for it (luckily I was holding her tightly! :eek: ). My mate noticed none of this, and instead looked at the toy with confusion and asked me what it was. I knew exactly what it was, and told him, and also told him that my daughter would really like a hold before it went on display.
She played with it for about ten minutes before I tried to take it off her. Bad move! I was forced to purchase it. Hang the expense ($1), my little girl wanted the toy and who was I to stand in her way?!?
Actually, I was more concerned as to what her mother's reaction would be when she saw it...:o
I took her home when she got tired, and put her straight to bed. The new acquisition rested on the lounge. SWMBO returned home and said;
"What is THAT!"
Me: "That's Mr H..."
She: "I know what it is - what's it doing in our house??"
Me: "It Charlotte's new toy. She loves it!"
She: "But she has a whole basket full of nice things. Why would she like that??"
Charlotte wakes up, SWMBO hides toy and then surprises her with it. Charlottes face beams again and SWMBO admits defeat! :D:D
So what is this 'magical' toy?? Check out the image below.
And if you don't know who the character is, look here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mr_Hanky)
