Hi Rowan,
I heard about this last night, (20th Sept) He is now described as 'serious but stable'. He was at Elvington airfield near York about 20 or 30 miles from where I live in Yorkshire. Too many famous people getting killed & injured lately for comfort don't you think? Here's hoping he get well soon.
Cheers mate, Sliver.

HI, Report on t.v. in uk this morning. (22nd Sept) said that Jeremy Clarkson was at the Hamster's bedside in Leeds hospital & is said to have jibed at Richard being a rubbish driver; They said a smile appeared on his face.....:) :)
Although he is still a long way off recovery it fills you with hope doesn't it??????
Cheers guys, Sliver. :)

Thanks for the info Rowan. I was just talking to my neighbour yesterday about how casually they drive at speeds of 250 kph and more on that show. I guess the two recent deaths in Oz show that you really can't get away with much. I hope he recovers.

I heard that he does have a "Brain Injury", but to what extent is not known. Either way, he wont be traveling at 300MPH for a long time, if ever.
Great show though.

G'day,

SWMBO and I saw the news and as big fans of Top Gear hope the bloke pulls through, wouldn't be near the same without his beaut sence of humour on the show.

Dunno about that, I thought the sheila punting the transit van round Nurburgring past the bikes and Porsches was pretty advanced in her technique.

I fell in love that night.

latest news......Can you believe this???? He's out of intensive care already!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D :D He's in a high dependency ward now. James May says after visiting him, 'my mate's still in there'.

He has a 'significant brain injury' so has a long road to recovery in front of him, but he'll do it, I know he will.
Cheers, Sliver.;)

Richard Hammond is improving, he's walked a few steps and is talking fairly freely, according to reports. There's a fair bit of noise over there about taking the program off air.

Clarkson's response:

"You just hear this constant background chatter of lesbian women running around saying that men should be in prison, not driving fast cars. Richard Hammond is the first one to stand up to that kind of nonsense. When he comes back he will fight anyone to make sure he has a show to go back to".

Don't you just hate knee jerk reactions. This is one of my favorite shows, and the only car type show that my wife will sit through. These guys love what they do, and yes there are real risks for them, but if lowndes has an off at the end of conrod next weekend do we scrap bathurst?? This is their job, yes it is more risky than most, but basic OH&S priciples still apply as well as industry best practice, if that is being followed things should be sweet.
I'm sure brocky would be turning knowing there is talk of scrapping targas in the wake of his death.

that photo (in the upper post) with the jet car, is that the car that hammond crashed ? if so im not surprised. cars are (or should be) capable of turning. yes I reckon drag racing is silly.... now a nice M5 nor Ferrari 360 mmmm.......

if hammond has brain injuries and has balance problems then at least he wont have far to fall over...:D :D ok hit me!:D

Hard to believe that at, 300 mph, still so close to runway. Though from the depth of the gouge's it looks like one hell of a ride.

With the shiny side down.
