I have given my weathboards 2 coats of Dulux weathershield acrylic low sheen paint. Builder will out them up next week.

The nail holes will need to be filled in etc and because its a 2nd storey and quite high up I am getting quotes from painters.

I have been told i should put on 2 more coats...the weathboards are pre-primed I should.

Should I need another 2 coats or 1 coat? If i add 2 coats it will be 4 coats onto the primed boards...one painter said it will need 2 coats to cover the holes being filled in?

Paint manufactured as 'primer', 'undercoat' and 'top coat' ARE different. The suggestion to apply another two coats is wise if you want good protection for the timber.

If you decided not to do it all with another two coats, maybe consider just the West wall ... they really seem to cop it with the driving rain and harsh afternoon sun.
