Toilet waste question?

This is really a dumb question. My parents are currently renovationing the bathroom and have notice the WC waste pipes exposed. Just out of curiosty, how could one flush send the waste out to the main sewer pipes?

Just out of curiosty, how could one flush send the waste out to the main sewer pipes?It doesn't, but the turds get there eventually with all the water that goes down the line from shower/washing machine/etc.

well all the pipework "SHOULD" be on an incline Downhill.

Though, Reactive Clay and "BlackSoil" do tend to have different ideas on the Pipe levels in some areas:mad:

Its all to do with the fall in the pipe.

Imagine if the turds stayed there until the next flush, but wait, the next flush also contains turds, and the next, etc.

So the fall in the pipe helps get rid of all the stuff, from solids to water .

Rain should have nothing to do with the flushing of the pipes what so ever, if it does, you have got some bad plumbing that needs looking at.

I've seen a few houses where the underground run of the sewer pipe is exposed at the WC end. It's against code (being susceptible to breakage) but there're times when it seems to be the only practical way to go. There are ways to do it properly, ways it should've been done... but DIYers and a lot of tradies tend to look for the easy and/or cheap way out. [shrug] Sometimes there's just not enough fall to the sewer mains or septic to go down to depth and, as has been said, fall is the most important component in getting the nasties away. ;)

Not condoning the practice, just saying that it is so.

Thanks guys, spoke to the plumber who is doing the work and its exactly what everyone had said. It all depends on the fall with other waste water helping it along. The fall cannot be too great otherwise the turds goes quicker than the paper.
