I hope it will be Collingwood but their recent form hasn't filled me with confidence. If its not Collingwood then I hope its either the Saints or the Demons.

Well I went for the Crows because they are my team. They might surprise many come finals but it is such a hot comp it is there for a few to win.
Eagles maybe but I don't think they will get the gong. Too much of like to have things going their own way.
Melbourne no not solid enough all over the ground. Mind you Aaron Davey and David Neitz are great footballers
Collingwood, nup have to have things their own way. They get the May Premiership again.
St Kilda needs a coach I think the window has shut on them now. They should be screaming that Malcolm Blight isn't there any more. Actually by this time he would have got a couple of flags for them. The man who has succeeded at every single thing he ever did in Football and they sacked him and hired the clerk. Not a club that will succeed.
Bulldogs will be allright but haven't had the form of a top team
Dockers are a red hot chance, great form and hungry to win
Sydney you can't ignore. Hard tackling mob with some great skills and a decent number of stars in the line up to boot. Remember the team that tackles best is usually the winner
Going in the Dockers and Swans look best. Adelaide is a bit of an unknown but the same thing was said when they started their winning run earlier this year. West Coast will go well and have had the best season of any. I am not sure if they are the real deal though.
Historically you need stars in your team, no more than 3 losses from the last 8 games, and crucially to finish in the top four. So historically it is Dockers and Swans. You might include West Coast in that too, but they too often this year have not been convincing. Maybe felt they had won it ahead of time. Crows have stars but they are all out injured. Don't be surprised if the Plague hits Adelaide next everything else has happened to us. Crows too might have dropped their standard a bit once they were assured of a top two finish. Well friday night we will have a good idea if they are in it to win when they meet the Dockers. Get over them and they will have as good a chance as ever.
Dockers have form and you can't ignore the Swans, and no, no Melbourne side is going to be too much a threat.

G'day,
Who cares?
The quicker it's all over with the quicker I don't have to see poor Dick, Harry and the other mob being top news story because they sprained their poor little ankle and can't play the next game.
I love the off season but can't stand when it's play time and Victorians hang on every word they speak or action they do on and off the field. What's the bet, the next reality programme on TV is watching some Dick or Harry from X team go about his daily life 24 hours a day?
Skill? There used to be skill. Now it's watch them all fumble over a ball.
I hate AFL. I hate how Victorians think it's their game and in the effort to make it a more national game won't let a g/final be played anywhere outside of the pathetic mcg, even if it's a g/final between two interstate teams.
And no I'm not a Vic. :p Anyway it's Antartica isn't it. :D

Havent you fellas been watchin? 8 games straight!! 8!! no gaps no misses but 8 games straight they have won... these fellas are right on their game cant get better they WILL WIN the premiership... NO PROBS!
Better question would have been who will be their competition in the final? Or what would a WCE and FD final mean to you? Or to football as we know it? Will the sky fall in if its a WCE and FD final held in Perth? MAN wouldnt that be something!!!
And wouldnt the Vics cry foul then!! :D
Bein one of those who can remember the Vics poor form when the WCE was formed and the issues they had getting accepted into the AFL back then... and then their bad form when the WCE won the premiership twice... IMAGINE a WCE and FD final held not in Melborne but in Perth? MAN would they go insane!! Imagine a final not in a close by city like Sydney or Adelaide but WAY THE BUGGARY over here in far of West Aussie! theyd turn purple and shyte rabbits! :D It would be soooooooooooooo good!

Mate, I know its hard when you team is just so bloody marvelous (read: uninspiring) that you have to put some of the extra devotion into 'hating' the 'Pies.
Never understood people barracking for Collingwood to go down, you may as well just admit that you love the 'Pies and get with the program.
Its even coming out in your work - witness the "black and white" Sassafras you've been using. Notice that you are in thrall to the Domino - it's major colour is black, and comes with a white systaiiner, doesn't it?
Just come out of the closet mate, admit it and walk proud, head up and not caring a damn for the opinion of others - JOIN THE MIGHTY MAGPIE ARMY!

According to Eddie there are two types of supporters. The Collingwood ones and the ones that wish they were *LOL* sorry Ed not interested.
Collingwood picked up a flag with Leigh Matthews at the helm. Wonder why they didn't try to keep him? If you ignore that flag you have to go back to when before they last won one. Picked up some a long time ago but nothing much since then. The last of the famous 4 in a row they got by being flag holders and kicked out of the finals and then being allowed to challenge the winner of the grand final to a rematch with the flag up for grabs. That would be a real good way to get there. Lose in the first week and then rest up fix up your injuries and after the premier has the flag give them a challenge and take on a side that has expended it's everything to win.
Don't think the Crows are finished. They started their big winning streak early in the year on the back of a number of injuries, players stepped up and they became flag favourites. See what they can do this time not easy but doable.
Sydney are a real chance but have to win this week. Playing West Coast and then playing the week after after coming back from Subi is a big ask. Freo are some chance but remains to be seen. West Coast I don't know if they really have what it takes. So it is pretty open. Might even see a Melbourne side win a few games, won't be Collingwood though. So it is pretty well wide open to my mind. There are several teams in that can win and if a tough contest like this someone like Melbourne or the Dogs could slip through and win it while no one is watching.

Last year Sydney won no one picked that after rd 22
Year before Port likewise.
Brisbane got their first as underdogs. At the beginning of that year no one believed that there was any team anywhere that could beat Essendon.
Chances are the list goes on

Surprised he got of for that elbow. Looked pretty cut and dried to me. Intentional blow to an opponents face. Must be nice being with Collingwood. Maybe they have a star factor thing that they apply along with the previous record type of blow etc etc put it in the computer and it comes out, guilty should go for two but seeing he gets bums on seats I reduce it to a warning?

Personally belting Collingwood in a grand final would be good except that is a club doomed never to win another one. No big deal really beating them in a GF
Wouldn't mind putting West Coast down because they are so self impressed.
Maybe it doesn't matter you just win and who remembers who lost?
Studley
In another hundred years when they are looking at who has the most flags and so on it will be sweet as to see Collingwood still stuck on 16 and have people asking how did a bunch of no hopers like that fluke 16? And of course even Geelong having more flags *L* that would be sweet

At this stage, there is as much fun in reading why people do NOT want a particular club to win as to who they support.
i can see the fervour of Vics wanting even the worst-liked Vic team over an interstate interloper.
Then, there are thr expat Vics who still pursue their likes and dislikes founded on their views of all those many years ago.
It is like in Rugby. I think Southy Africa only exist so there will be one match in which I hope the Kiwis will win.
Grunt
10th September 2006, 11:22 PM
Only Collingwood supporters want Collingwood to win. The rest of us would rather see Osama Bin Laden as Prime Minister than Collingwood win a GF.
I don't see the D's beating the Dockers at Subi.
Studley 2436
11th September 2006, 12:33 AM
Nah beating West Coast at Subi is doable. The really hard thing is winning a week later. That trip to Perth is a tough one.
Mind you I notice the Vic clubs that have a heart as opposed to a sense of entitlement are the ones that got up.
I am going for the Crows because they are my team. I reckon it will be very hard for anyone to beat Sydney in Sydney. In many ways it all comes down to who has the most fit players. Sydney and Adelaide will both benefit from the week off.
Sydney and Adelaide in the Grand Final for my money.
Will be very hard to beat the Dogs week after next though
