Hi all

some good while ago I saw a residential kitchen that had the most stunning yellow bench top - now, I understand that this would NOT be everyone's cup of tea, and over a large area it was a bit much...... BUT, what I would love to do is use a piece for a dresser ledge, measuring around 1200 long.

My dilemma is that I cannot find the material - I have asked several granite importers and they do not know of the material, so I am wondering if anyone from the forum has seen it in their travels..... I did see some 'blood orange' material gathering dust down the back of one stonemasons in Melbourne's northern suburbs ..... I will resort to that if I can't find the other, but you all know how it is - having seen 'perfection' I am reluctant to pay for second best, at least before I have exhausted all reasonable avenues.

any help/suggestions gratefully accepted

have fun!

Sure it wasn't Corian or similar?

Mysterious....I have a magazine photo of a kitchen with yellow concrete benchtops. If you cant find the stone, p'raps google concrete benchtops - some of the finishes are swirly/mottled like stone, you might find a substitute that you like.

if you can, please post a pic as it 'may'be an alternative - absolutely NO luck finding the stone so far

thanks

some good while ago I saw a residential kitchen that had the most stunning yellow bench top...

Was in a waiting room today and they had Kitchens and Bathrooms quarterly. Inside was an ad for "Stone Italiana" which comes in two variations of canary yellow plus a lot of other colours. It is reconstituted stone.

Google finds http://www.stoneitaliana.com.au/
and it shows the two yellow colours.

Hello Steve,

I have been dealing direct through the importers of Bisazza Stone and Mosaics who do an engineered Stone Benchtop. We have gone for this in our kitchen makeover (Bianco Assoluto 88 (http://www.surfacestone.com.au/index.php?productID=120)) and are very happy with the product and the outcome for the price.

They do a range of whacky colours. Try this link.

Believe that all Virgin Blue counters across Australia will get the wild red colour to match their corporate theme.

The sheets come in 3000 x 1250 x 6.5mm and can be formed up on chipboard base, even bent slightly to a curved surface.

I have the name of the distributor contact if you want to pursue a deal....

Thanks

Damon

thank you all for the responses and advice - my hunt continues.... but - I recently discovered the (not so) ancient Chinese art of dyeing stone..... yes, you heard/read right. They are dyeing marble and travertine etc. any colour they reckon'll sell. Does it last? Does it face? Who knows, but if the high standards that the Chinese are known for is any indication, well you be the judge.

Will report back with any developments as I make 'em.

thanks again
