I have just changed to ADSL2 with my ISP and am currently getting a download speed of 3.0Mbps.
There was no price increase so I could hardly refuse the offer.
I now have no problems downloading large files and upgrades etc.
I am approx 1.5km from the exchange.

3.0Mbps is not too flash for ADSL2 if you're only 1.5Kms from the exchange.
You should get around 10 Mbps at that distance.

Which ISP offers 10 Mbps in Australia.

If you bundle your phone with iinet then you get up to 24000k. Depends on line quality of course.
iinet 2400k plans (http://www.iinet.net.au/products/broadband/plans.html)

Were on bigpond, at 256kb's, but are going to join up to IINET'S 1500 kb's. Since we live 50 mins from Perth, we can only get 1500.

I am on iinet's Frequent User Plan Light. No phone bundle and am getting 3000k or 3.0Mbps, for $49.95 per month.
Best deal I can find.
