View Full Version : Window Beading - any thoughts

Hi everyone - below is a picture of how I've done our window beads - I got sick of having to prise off nailed on beads - so I've used some nice wafer head screws. When the sash cord breaks, it won't be such an issue to get into the window.
Any thoughts on how they look - we think they make a quite attractive addition to the window look !

They look a tad "industrial" to me. You can get white painted wafer head screws from cabinetmaker's suppliers and these may blend in a bit more.

Any idea where - our choices in Devonport TAS are somewhat limited !!!

I agree, white would be better.

Thanks !

How about using countersunk screws with the push on covers? Easily obtained in white too.

These covers are a shallow domed disc about 10mm round, with a cross point moulded underneath to fit into the screw slots.

They'd be even more low profile than the wafer screws.

How to get white wafer heads ?

Grab a bit of scrap wood, drill some holes to hold the screw shafts, and go wild with white spray paint!

I can give you some addresses, but they're all going to be several thousand kilometres away  . Try some of the local cabinetmakers as you'll only need a handful of them (or the plastic caps).
