Panel adhesive

The time has come to put up the panelling in the bathroom, huge sheets of laminated masonite (this was her idea because it was cheaper than lamipanel).
What I need now is some sort of contact adhesive with a bit of give to allow me to manouver the sheets into the correct position.
I used contact in the kitchen for smaller pieces of laminex and once contact was made that was it, no margin for error, but the big bits are somewhat more intimidating because of the sheer bulk.
Is there a forgiving contact adhesive out there somewhere???

Iain,
liquid nails, maxbond or similar construction adhesives are usuually used for this. You can apply beads of it on the studs, press the panel into position and then peel it back from the top to allow it to dry partially. Then you push it back into position. There's a little bit of give in it. Personally I don't trust the stuff fully and would use a combination of it and a polurethane based adhesive (Sikaflex, Bostik Seal and flex or similar. Use the construction adhesive as per directions but also apply beads of the polurethane adhesive. The construction adhesive will grab quickly and hold the sheet in position while the sika goes off. The polyurethane will stick like the prverbial to a blanket.

Thanks Mick, never though about using contact to hold the rest in place.
Are you talking about the foaming type polurethane, titebond poly or whatever or is this something different.
The panels are going onto the shower wall so will be subject to constant wetting and steam.

Gday Iain, we used this stuff & used liquid nails, heaps of it. Make sure you have plenty on hand, we ran out & I made the mad dash to Safeway at about 11.30pm :( Can always return the unused tubes to the retailer for a refund.

I like Mick's idea, the polyurethane glue he mentions is a different beast to the Selleys/Titebond/Gorilla Glue type polyurethane.
