Mr. Stirlo.
I look forward to meeting you and everyone who attends the Expo. It is a good place to be!
Obviously there are a number of pricing influences, some of which are the cost of the block, the complexity of the design and therefore the time to finish the box. There is also the opportunity for you to design and finish your own, a sort of DIY, if you like.
If I am asked to finish a box I will need 4-6 weeks, that is because of the sanding and shaping time required and time for the final finish to harden before I commence the fine sanding.
See you at the Expo!!!
Be good

G'Day Stirlo.
Why did you want to know about taking a back pack ?
cause i plan on buying alot of stuff off neil and would probably take lunch instead of buying it so, with a back pack, it would be easier to carry. i'm not sure wether i'll take one, just asking if i decide to.
anyway, cya there maybe.

No worries, I thought you might be bringing along some of your work to show.
I have been thinking about bringing the WIP pool cues, if anyone is interested in seeing them....??
Cheers.

Stirlo take the backpack as you said you need somewhere to put your lunch and all the purchases you get.
It is easier to put the purchases in the back pack than carry them in the plastic bags and strangle your fingers.
We are noticing it more these days that a lot of people use the backpacks, they just have to be aware that they stick out the back and can bump into other people easily.

Stirlo if you find either John Harvey ( who has been in touch with you) or me we can organise a "Safe" area for you to store your stuff rather than carry it around all day. We should be roving around all day but if you see someone with a two way just ask them to give us a hoy.
Cheers

Bruce, john told me to ring him when i get there or ask for you so....cya there.
btw, i will bring along some pens i've made too for anyone that is interested.

Not sure what day yet Stirlo, but as I live only about 5 mins away, its no big deal to get there anytime.
As it gets closer I might know what day.

Hello to everyone who took the time to stop by and say hello (Friday), I am sorry I was unable to spend more time with you (after all that is what Shows such as this are all about) I hope you understand that it was because of the number of people in attendance.

hey guys, just came back from the expo. i rekon it was a awesome day. alot of great work on display from alot of people including cessnock woodturners the woodturners of the hunter and a few others. i was really impressed with the bandsaw boxes that tony ward makes.
watching the demos was really cool. i got to see how a bandsaw box is made and some examples of ornamental turnings, neil demonstrating how to use the rotary sander. the lumber bunker with the handplanes, MIK with the japanese saws....and probably others i have missed.
i met a few forum members ( and got me a hat ) including neil, zed, salty, tony ward and a few others.
didn't buy much, got some ubeaut stuff ( of course ) and a few bits of huon bowl blnks and some osage orange, huon, silky oak pen blanks, and some ca and keyring whistle parts from gpw.
overall a good day.

Just before I go into hibernation for a couple of days
- :DTHANKS TO YOU ALL:D for supporting our Expo.
Without the participation of you all - Exhibitors and Punters we would not have a Expo and could not raise funds for the John Hunter Children's Hospital Kids Club. Havn't got a final figure yet but it was a good show slightly better than last years in terms of what we raised.
In to the bargain it was great to have a chat to Neil @ Ubeaut, Steve at Lumber Bunker, Tony Ward and David & Honor at the CarbaTec stand to name but a few of the exhibitors, as well as catching up with Forum members such as Stirlo & his mate and Father.
If you have any constructive criticism about expo PLEASE pm me and we will try to incorporate your ideas.
Cheers
Bruce;)

No criticism Salty, but try and get a few more vendor businesses there next year.
McJings do shows and would broaden the gear available and maybe cause a few of the usual suspects to sharpen their pencils.
I enjoyed it.

Hi Bodg
thanks for the input.:D
We did approach McJing but due to other committments he was unable....Perth Show I seem to recall. Bl00dy westy's
Any suggestions of other vendors tho would be appreciated. We would like to know of the "little Guys & Girls" who have good products and can come to the Expo. Everyone knows a few of these rare pearls and we would like the opportunity to get them to come to Expo
It has been suggested we put the Expo for 2007 forward one week.
Any Comments???

Salty, with the date I would consider something at least two weeks away from the other shows. This allows guys like McJing to get back, re-organise and head off to your show.

Thanks Rowan - point taken;).
We also have to be mindful of the "local events" here in Newcastle as well. Sometimes it's a bit of a juggle!!

Does anyone know how the Newcastle Expo compares with other Regional wood shows?
Bodgy
15th August 2006, 07:00 PM
Significantly smaller than Canberra, if you consider The People's Republic of the ACT regional.
