Bath Installation?

Hey,

I am renovating my bathroom which is 1650mm wide without plasterboard. What size bath should I purchase to install within this 1650mm gap so that there is no ledge? My carpenter mentioned that typically that baths are recessed 25mm into the stud wall. Is this correct and does that mean I should purchase a 1700mm bath?

if you can find a 1700mm long bath then grab it with both hands and dont tell anyone because they simply wont beleive you ,but then again neither would i

Andy - baths pretty much only come in two lengths. Check out the Caroma website for specs.

Metaliberica make a 1700mm bath in at least 4 styles. You can buy through Reece plumbing in the Melbourne area. They are a porcelain on steel bath.

Shop around - you can find a range of bath sizes. I just installed a 1400mm Soaker bath. I looked at a heap of different sizes from 1200mm to 1800mm.

For a start, go to google and type in "bath 1700mm site:.au" (without the quotes). That will find you some links to look at.

You could go with a 1525 Verona like we did as its much cheaper to use common sizes. You mention plasterboard in a bathroom - is this correct as I thought it was a no-no. If you have a 1700 space, you could build a little ledge out to support one end of the bath with the other end recessed into the wall. The Caroma website gives intallation instructions. Mine sits on a ledge on 4 sides plus the base sits on wooden spacers (for want of a better word). No movement even with 3 kids misbehaving in it. :p

I ended up purchasing a 1675mm bath from REECE, and then rebated it into the wall to cover the tile lip.
