Went on a shopping expedition today.

Firstly, browsed a $2 shop. Bought a dozen sheets of 600 and 800 grit W&D for $2.50 a pop, plus five small ratchet clamps for $1.50. Tried all out, they work fine. Incidentally W&D is around $2 a sheet in round eye shops.

Moved out to Mc Jings @ Yagoona to further bolster the local economy. Amongst other buys, got 2 x deep throat, quick action clamps @ 1.2 metres for $19. Plus a 150mm engineers square (which I checked and really is square) for $6. An M2, HSS, 1" turning gouge for $60.

McJings is really an Alladins cave. One could spends hours browsing thru all the stuff, particularly if one is into metal bashing as well as WW. They leave you alone whilst u browse, but are quick to help if requested.

Don't have an interest in the business, wish I did, we'd go national.

We only ever see McJings at the woodshow up here, last time I bought some cheap plug cutters off them, they work well - good value for money when compared to most others!

was that $2.50 for 12 sheets, or $2.50 a sheet?

Pat, bring your credit card and cash. You'll never leave there with the dosh you arrived with

Clint, $2.50 for the dozen!

Played with the big gouge today, its like chalk and cheese compared to my cheapo set.

I spent hours and about $200 at McJings stand. I love it. The forstener bits i got are awesome for the dosh. They have tool steel that my Dad cannot source any more. Cool.

I've been buying stuff from McJings for some time now, and I'm always pleasantly surprised at the quality. It's not the soft, inaccurate cr@p you find in the "fell off the back of a truck" shops, the staff (owners?) are very cluey about their stock and pleasant and helpful with it. There is an incredible range of router bits at rediculous prices and their metal working tools are great too. The #2 morse taper reamer that fixed my WASP problem came from there at about 1/3 the price of anywhere else.
No connection, just a very satisfied customer.
Cheers
Graeme
