Just a light hearted conversation/argument going on as we renovate and build a new kitchen. So out to the brainstrust with this deep question.
I wont tell you which way I think is better, I was the one who bought up the idea of a power point in the pantry!

Rather simple really. Let the chief cook decide the issue. :D :D :D
If you are the chief cook you decide else let the real boss determine the issue.:D :D :D

Scotty,
A friend of mine has all [well most] of her electrical items in the pantry
AND
each is permanently plugged in to Power.
Saves relocation them each time they are used.
These include Toaster, MixMaster, CrockPot, PopCorn Maker:D etc etc
The kettle is in the Kitchen proper.
EDIT:- The microWave is next to the Kettle
Mind you it is a large Pantry / Larder on a country property Homestead.
Still a good idea, though.

Mine is in the pantry - it's best that way.

Just remember where you get your jollys.
Oh, and they remember things like this forever if you get your way and it doesn't work!

As SottyK's Mum I guess my opinion can be seen as biased! But just to clear one point up....it was my suggestion to place a power point in the pantry! And as for the vote..... I vote Pantry! :) Sorry SWMBO! XX :D

Just remember where you get your jollys.;)
G'day,
I get my jellies (jollys) from the pantry, but if I have too many at once I get into trouble from SWMBO. :D

Actually, that's a very good question.
I'd stick the microwave in the pantry, but only if the door had a foot handle as it's no fun trying to open the door while carrying a heavy pot of food to be put in to the microwave and the door won't open and SWMBO spills it...... and gets mad at you... as BM said, it would never be forgotten.
So, why not put the container on the bench, open the door etc etc - because SWMBO is busy and has a million things on the go ......
Just leave it on the bench - safer all round.....
cheers

You wouldnt believe it but I am in the process of creating a pantry and have had 4 powerpoints installed to leave juicer vitamiser microwave etc connected and on the bench full time. Decided to call it the galley as there are no windows and it is long and skinny. Cant say I have been sea sick there yet though. So my vote is for the microwave

It would depend a lot on what you call a pantry, if it is the modern version of a corner cupboard wrongly named a pantry or a proper one.:D :D :D The kind you can walk into and swing a cat around.:D
Our pantry is a proper one being 2400 * 1500 which in addition to shelving and pull out wire baskets has 2 upright freezers but no microwave.

put the microwave under the bench
use the power point in the pantry for
the coffee grinder,
the DVD player connected to the flat screen TV on the [external] pantry wall
the mobile phone chargers
your Bosch IXL driver!
