We have been driven mad for over a year by the fridge. It is a double door type with ice and water dispensers.
Whenever it felt like it it would give a door open indication and emmit a noise like a backing truck. The cooling would stop and the temp as indicated on the panel would start to drop,
Anyway this was normally fixed by opening and shutting the door.
THings got worse and it was forever doing it especially in the middle of the night requiring a sleepy stagger to it and a slam of the door.
Eventually slamming no longer helped and the door switch would be cycled a few times with various results.
Now out of warranty we called in the serviceman who was just as puzzled. No error code generated so at a loss to explain it. (We only fix electronics now by using built in test progroms of course, no more faultfinding as it used to be, cos nothing is repaired, just replaced.)
He decided it must be the switch and ordered another in which he duly fitted.
(Long story hey? But reflects how long this has been annoying me.)
It behaved itself for a few days and then started to same thing.
Well I think I have finally solved it. I found if I put slight pressure on the door things were fine. So all I had to do was stand at the fridge and apply slight pressure.
The side of the door that pushes the door switch in has a slight depression , sort of sucked in. I taped two thicknessess of carboard with some water proof tape to build up the depression and jobs done. Could have saved the $150 service fee.
Seems the switch is only just being made and the depression was enough to make a difference.
Anyway if you know any other sufferers of reversing fridges get them to try it.
