Hey guys,

i was outside near my gas meter, and i could smell gas. The smell is quite strong when i got right near it.
Is this normal?

I have never notices it before!

do i call Energy Aust too look at it, if need be?

Cheers

Why are you asking questions like this here - get right onto your gas supplier, mucho pronto!

Edit: and don't smoke or light a match to see what's going on

honestly - I very much doubt it will explode.

Mix up some spray with dishwashing liquid and water, spray it on all the joins and it will soon tell you where the leak is - blowing big bubbles for you.

Gas stinks, it is actually the worst smell in the world - a fact I believe.

I have done a lot of LPG work and the amount of gas you need for an explosion is massive I very much doubt you have that much, things around your gas box would be dead, plants, lawn animals etc.

Work out where the leak is and see what you reckon, I would just tighten the fittings using two spanners not shifters - even then you probably need someone to check it out - although if it stops leaking I wouldn't bother.

Let us know how you go - my advice is worth as much as you payed for it

While your waiting for them to show i would suggest that you get a spray bottle filled with soapy water and you spray it over the couplings and look for any bubbles that will show up any leaks that may be in the system.
