The following site contains some interesting info sheets on safety for woodworkers.

The info is focussed at industry - however there is absolutely no reason the basic principals should not be applied at home.
On the other (fully functional) hand you still want to get value out of the public/private hospital system, go back out to your workshop/shed, remove some machine guards, throw away the respirator ....
