Hi,
Help with advice please:-
I'm wanting to repaint an external door but am not sure how to remove the deadlock. I can unscrew the internal part (the room side) but am uncertain how to remove the part on the outside - can't see any screws, and it seems to be connected to the latch (bolt). Can understand why there are no outside screws for security. The escutcheon(?) the cover around the outside twists around but doesn't seem to be the way - again security I guess.

Thanks and hope you can help.

If yours is similar to this style then it should simply be a matter of removing the two screws on the inside. Those screws will run all the way through the inside of the lock, through the latch and screw into the outside of the lock.

If not get the screws off from inside, remove the inside of lock and you'll likely find a seperate plate that is used to screw through for attaching the outside of the lock.

Thanks Wayne for the reply. Since scouring the internet for some answer I've found that I should have mentioned that I have a double cylinder deadbolt (not 'lock'), need a key for both sides. My lock looks exactly like the one you posted and that picture would be on both sides of the door. The screws that I can find are about 39mm long whilst the lock 'casing' extends about 29mm from the door face so they can't go through to the outer side, or other cylinder.
Thanks for your help anyway.
I'm puzzled that I can't locate a web-site for the manufacturer.

Hello again,
Problem solved thanks to Wayne and a hardware supplier for their suggestions. Should it help anyone else I'll mention that the obvious screws, the ones that are easy to see, screw into a larger screw - just requires a broad blade type screwdriver.
Thanks again,
Bob H.
