Inset Bath support

Hi all just a quik question. Can u use expanda foam under neath a bath to support it of should u use a dry mortar mix. My plumber sugested this but i wasnt sure..:confused:

I would use the mortar mix. The expanda foam can crush under load over time so eventually you may have to repack under the tub anyway.

Some slack bludgers use it, but as woodbutcher says it can lead to problems down the track. It also voids the warranty of MANY bath manufacturers. The two ways to do it are with a wetter mortar mixture mounded in a few places, which the bath is sunk into, or the way I do it it to fit the bath and pack a dryish mortar mix underneath. I use some pavers or bricks on the wall side as a boundary to pack the mortar against. It is a bit of a miserable messy job, but the dryish mortar will not shrink away from the bath.

I will definatly use the cemnt mortar bed which i was going to do originally.

You've decided to do the right thing. ;) Our builder told us he once saw a plumber use it and went a little overboard and the bath actually popped out!! :eek: :eek: :eek:
