Where is the best place to purchase building materials from?
Want to renovate my house and will need to buy gyprock, timber for walls, windows, doors etc. and all the glue nails and stuff that goes with it.
Thanks
Steve

there are no places that carry the lot and sell discounted ,my advice to you is to make a list and shop around

I guess a hardware shop like Bunnings would sell most of the stuff. Would you recommend going to a place like that or similar?
Perhaps targetting specific suppliers like a timber shop or door/window shop and getting the best price.

No
Their moulding wood (architrave, door jambs etc) is crap and badly stored - at least here in Minchinbury (NSW) it is. Better quality, better priced and good straight timber is available elsewhere.

Have a gander at www.tradeconnect.com.au (http://www.tradeconnect.com.au)
I just bought a skylight rrp $729 for $580 delivered to my door.
Excellent turn around and selection of major items.

When I started my Extension and Reno, I just went to the local timber yard and introduced myself and explained what I was doing. They set up an account for me, which means I automatically get 10% off most things. When I have a major / bulk materials purchase I make sure I order as much as I can at once, and usually get a bit more of a discount.

I also purchased materials from www.tradeconnect.com.au (http://www.tradeconnect.com.au) - in fact I have used them for 8 orders totalling more than $12,000 and they have been cheaper, faster to reply than others when waiting for comparative quotes and goods have all arrived as ordered - except once with a roof flashing. I notified them of the problem (manufacturer error) and had it rectified immediately - good to know that when you have a problem they will be there to sort it out and not run and hide.
They even advised me of an error I made when ordering goods that I overlooked that would have left me out of pocket by $200+ in their favour if they didn't let me know
can't beat that for honesty.
