Kitchen Flooring underlay?

Hi All

Just a question about what I should use as a underlay to put down some self adhesive vinyl floor tiles in the kitchen area.
The underlay will be going over timber floor boards.

Do I use masonite ? or is there something better that I can use.

And should I just stick the underlay down or nail it to the floor boards?
