My house is a blue gray and I plan to paint the railings white. Do you think a color on the porch floor and steps would look alright? And if so, what color do you think would look good?
MOre....:) What color shutters. Should they match the floor and steps or the railings....window boxes, what color...I am just no good at picking colors. We are rebuilding after Katrina knocked our house down so all these decisions are getting to me. Any help would be appreciated....

Check out the Laura Ashley site under "inspirations" for some pics, most of these are interiors though but should give you some ideas. My boss has painted floor boards on his large verandah, patio and interior also and raves about using boat paint for durability ... Dont know how kosher this is but thought I'd mention it. Good luck with it!

Thank you, that is an inspiring site. :) Someone else had suggested we use boat paint so it must be a good option. Should be easy to find since this is boat country. Every year someone in the family gets a new boat we just have to ride in..I am not into boats. My Father in law took me shrimping the first time I met him and I ended up cooking fish for the crew while the boat went around in circles...I hate boats....I want my feet on solid ground.

I do a little sailing but not heaps of boat maintenance however I think whitowrths may be one of the cheaper places to purchase boat paint and the guys usually know alot about lots of things and are quite helpful...
