I usually view this forum in the early evenings. During this time there are quite a few others viewing also. In clock time, you are 6 hours behind me but a day ahead.
So the question is, how are you able to view the forum during the mid afternoon? It seems that your employers are rather easy going regarding your Internet activities. Every now and then the readers on the evening news will note that some poor fool was fired for browsing the Internet while at work.

my employer allows us to have un-limited internet access during our work hours. The only stipulations are: all work is to be completed and all issues delt with, and we can not log on to www.nakedcathoilcschoolgirls.com (no it is NOT a real site, just for those who may be tempted to look) and sites of that kind.
Initally they said NO , untill I pointed out that THIS was my favourite site:p

Self employment has a lot going fot it. :)
Including the ability to have a quick browse when a few free minutes present themselves. A smoke, a cuppa and a modem. What better way to spend a smoko?

Hi Rrich,
I work for a large corporate, and whilst company policy says that Internet access should be limited to work-related matters, in practice there is a reasonable amount of latitude given, provided that one does not abuse it - and that deadlines aren't missed because of any sloping off to the 'net for a happy hour :D

I have an extra excuse...
Different time zone. ;)
Of course being self employed helps, and running a computer help desk, where sometimes you just have to look at the screen and wait for the phone to ring helps too. ;)
Cheers

I'm a home dad about 2 days a week, so the same with me. But often, I get on to read a post and have to take off again before I can answer.
I work 3 or 4 shifts a week as well. Changes every month. Mostly night shifts.

I don't feel that I have a need to justify my online time when I'm at work.
Internet access is a fundamental necessity of my job.
So the fact that I keep a U-Beaut tab open in the browser is neither here nor there.
Rest assured, if my employer thought it was a problem they'd block my access. :rolleyes:
Mind you, I'm not about to try and access a site or something equally dodgy when I'm at work.
In fact, when members post links to risque sites, I'll wait 'till I get home before I'll think about having a look.

All of you are treated rather well. At the company where I worked, they fired a lady for doing her holiday shopping on the Internet during her lunch hour. About a month later they walked her boss out the door for an "Unspecified" reason. I know the lady sued the company, collected, came back for one day (to collect) and then moved out of the area.

If I started charging for flippant comments then surely every time I posted one I could be accused of spamming.
Flippant comments will remain free (plus postage and handling).

G'day Felder,
If your flippant comments are free there must be something wrong with them. I'll wait for the upgraded version when you've sorted them out and then I'll pay for them.

In my last role, and no, I left of my accord, the boss had a very strict restricted material policy. As he explained it to me: if you found anything 'any good', you had to show him first.

ATTENTION ALL FORUM USERS!!
Due to public demand, flippant comments from myself will now be charged at $5 each. This price includes GST, but does NOT include postage and handling.
Due to my remarkable trusting nature, I shall just keep a tally of all the flippant comments I make, and then post the invoice just before I retire. Settlement would then be appreciated as quickly as possible.:cool:

Do you intend to set up a trade in link on your website for our "used" flippant comments as well. It's only fair if we have to pay the "new" price of $5 we expect a decent trade in price on ours. As a retailer you know how important the "change over price" argument is in clinching a sale.:D

Bloody hell, Caliban! The fact that you've got a busted leg doesn't give you the right to break my brain!
So now I have to offer new flippant comments, and offer a trade-in price for other flippant comments. I'm sure you also recognise the fact that I need to make a profit on the comments that I buy off you (such is the way of business), so;
PRICE LIST FOR FLIPPANT COMMENTS FROM FELDER
* Brand new Genuine Felder Flippant Comments, manufactured in Austr(al)ia - $5
* Trade-in your Flippant Comment to purchase a new Felder Flippant Comment for only $3!
* Purchase a second hand Flippant Comment of dubious quality ( :p ) - $3
* Trade-in your Flippant Comment for a second hand Flippant Comment - $1.
Prices include GST, but not postage and handling. Special offer - purchase five or more new Flippant Comments or ten or more second hand Flippant Comments to receive FREE postage and handling!
