Paint and osbcure glass

Hey all,

I'm currently in the process of removing paint from some obscure glass, well not only in the bathroom but also in all the doors in the house as well. It is an Art Deco house with glass infills in all the doors. The previous painting job was a little rough and there is paint on all the infills. The glass infills are obscure with a rough finish to it (not sure of the name for for this type of glass, however it is not a smooth finish).

Would anyone have suggestions of how to remove paint from the glass?? I have been scraping with a razor blade and it... is... a... long... drawn... out... process.

I've got a great tip. Caustic...... I'm guessing its the same stuff as the stuff you get from the supermarket to clean out blocked drains, but the caustic I've used from my work, mixed in a solution, just desolves paint really well.

I have a few french doors with glass panels. Each door had 5 glass panels in them. I removed the glass from the doors and brought back the timber by scraping off the paint.

Anyway, there was a lot of paint left on the glass. Splatters from ruff painting. I just put them all in a concentrated solution of caustic and water and left them for a couple hours. The paint desolved pretty well and just hosed off really easy. Got it all out of the little grooves in the glass patterns (kosiosko glass ?) . Don't forget gloves and saftey glasses. But you'd that. Hope that helps.

Tape off the timber framework and then apply a gel paint remover.
Afterwards.do a final clean up with turps.
