... I've successfully painted the walls and ceiling in my unit... now the doors, woodwork and steel door frames are in perfect condition, but looking very tired...

I recall that a million years ago, you had to sand back the old paint before painting over it.... is that still needed or is there some wizz bang product on the market that will make life a little easier?

I was going to use a vinyl gloss to paint over.

thanks to all who respond with some tips.

Hi Jen, IF the paint work is in good condition, and you are keeping the same colour, then all you need to do is give the surface a light scuff with "wet and dry" paper, then apply the paint.

It may be a good idea to wash the areas down first with some "sugar soap" just to remove any dirt films off of them.

OR if you are too tired to do the sanding, there is a product out called "ESP" which is a liquid you apply, and let dry before re-painting.

use Taubmans 3 in 1 it says you do not have to sand gloss or enamel surface. Read before you buy or use.!
