Planning on Building Dream home (of course).<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Unfortunately our local geotechnical specialist has told us as there is undermining in the local area (NOT under our block) that in future some subsidence may occur where we plan to build.

The undermining is approximately 170m down and 100m away from our building pad.

The geotechnical engineer has made the recommendation to council however of only allowing stumped houses on the block.

I would prefer a brick / slab house myself for a variety of reasons including insulation etc.

My question (finally) is are there viable alternatives to stumping that may be acceptable to council, bearing in mind that I don't quite know the differences between normal slabs and waffle pods etc.... just heard that they are better.....?

Any comments / suggestions would be welcome.
