This is worth reading:-
From Phillip M Harter, MD, Stanford University, School of Medicine:
If we could shrink the earth's population to a village of precisely 100 people, with all the existing human ratios remaining the same, here's what you would have:
57 Asians
21 Europeans
14 from the Western Hemisphere (both north and south)
8 Africans
52 would be female
48 would be male
70 would be non-white
30 would be white
70 would be non-Christian
30 would be Christian
89 would be heterosexual
11 would be homosexual
6 people would possess 59% of the entire world's wealth, and all 6 would be from the United States.
80 would live in substandard housing
70 would be unable to read
50 would suffer from malnutrition
1 would be near death
1 would be near birth
1 (yes, only 1) would have a college education
1 would own a computer.
Out of the 20 categories listed, I would meet the requirements for 8 (and I'm not going to tell you which ones:p ). How many would you fit into?

11 would be homosexual
I find the fact that homosexuality do not happen in pair disturbing .

Not half as much as if you were the other...
Col: Also 8 - methinks it's pretty easy to guess which ones.
Interesting to note that the wealth distribution does not coincide, even closely, with the (formal) education.

Captain, it is indeed a very interesting study.
I too did some very interesting research when I was in university. I found that we were all born with uneven legs. My study showed that you either have one leg longer then the other or one leg shorter then the other.
Cheers:eek:

I can only make it 5, but then I don't live in substandards housing, don't suffer from malnutrition , be near death or about to give birth.:D
Typical seppo study, Americans, Europeans, Asians and Africans are included but not us Aussies.:(

I've seen a version that include us Aussies - sort of, we aren't enough to count without our neighbours it seems.........

Did your research also reveal the other interesting fact: that, statistically speaking, the average human being has fewer than two legs?

What gives you that idea Col.
I reckon a goodly number of them are wonderful people, but I do get annoyed with their superior outlook over the rest of the world. ( If I say anymore will only move this post  )
Fancy listing the peoples of 4 continents but ignoring us, maybe it is because most of them still think that we are located somewhere south of Germany and east of Switzerland :( and speak german.

G'day,
Well I make 7, but how do I know if I'm close to death? If I knew, it would be 8.
I'm with Sturdee on his comment, "... but I do get annoyed with their superior outlook over the rest of the world"
Good nigh one and all, sweet dreams. :)
Have I said that Hagar isn't spilling his beer and Dougs jugs aren't bouncing? :(

Statistics
100% of all convicted criminals waiting on death row in the U.S. have eaten tomatoes
More than 60% of men who died of heart attacks in Australia in the last 10 years have had hairy ear lobes ( After reading that fact I have kept mine well groomed and short)
85% of people who don't use a calculator and take 1000 and add 40 to it. Now add another 1000 . Now add 30 .
Add another 1000 . Now add 20 . Now add another 1000
Now add 10 . and get a total of 5000 are wrong (its fourty one hundred)
statistics can be interperated to read anything and are dependent on the way they are gathered thus they mean sweet f-all

I make only 6.
I feel so cheap!
Iain, either here or not.
Care to explain that to my wife with the soccer player running around inside her?
He's almost here, definitely here but not quite here all at the same time. ;)
Even more interesting, I think he might be able to collect 10 or 5 1/2 categories, depending on how you count them...

From a census or statistical point of view, you don't exist until you are born.
Which brings a point for DanP, if a pregnant women is the only occupant in a car on an express lane, can she be charged????

Oh I just love this kind of conversation.
1. Do you know if you shrink your entire life into just one week then you would have spent pretty much 24 hours on a Monday.:p
2. Statistically speaking 50% of any statistics are crap:D

Us? or us + our sheep? That'd change the balance - also make up the "odd" numbers peut etre.
