Hi have done a quick search but couldnt find the answer...

Putting in new stirrups for an extension for my deck, I Understand that the stirrups should protrude from the footing between 50-100mm (depending on who you listen too ;))

But how far into the footing should the stirrup extend? Eg Should I go with 300mm stirrups and have 70mm out of the ground and 230 in? or will 200mm stirrups be fine? (70 out 130 in)?

BTW it is just for a deck (no roof load)

Cheers
Joel

if it's just your average type deck, the 200mm shoes are fine.
how high will the deck be off the ground ?

Yep thanks pope, I asked the neighbour (chippy who builds decks for a living) and he said the same thing.... :)

Deck is between 500-700 off the ground.
