Yes. Get your mum to sit in front of the computer and wait until you get a private message and then she can SMS you;)

There is more than one way to skin a cat. Rather than the direct way I prefer the indirect method.:D
So whilst the board will not send a SMS directly, you can configure it to send you an email notification of a new pm. Then you can configure your email program to send you an sms when you receive such notification.

Ah yes, the vital needs of the youth of today. When I bought my latest mobile the bloke behind the counter was quite shocked when I asked for a phone that just made phone calls. :D

I'm so sorry Al, but I can't help myself. :o
When I came here many years ago, I learned the old system of spelling correctly, proper sentence construction and punctuation. You see my SCHOOL teachers thought that it would help in communicating with others if we could do things correctly. Strange wasn't it.
Not like today where they can't spell or enunciate themselves. I know it is my loss, not being able to be like the kids of today:eek: , but under today's policy of multi-culturism we can get interpreters from the government so they can translate what the kids are saying to us.:p

Sturdee I don't think that you have anything to apologise for. When I txt my wife while I am away working I always type you not u because I like using proper english. Personally some of the english used in this post is just pure laziness ( or maybe we are not cool enough to use crappy english?).

Good for you.

Hey, I'm training to be a manual arts teacher not an English Teacher! (That's my brother's job :D).

I can write properly when I want to and I am a teenager, it is just easier for us to write in short.
The reason I write in short is because of the One hundred and twenty characters limit on Short Message Service.
And wood Butcher, it has got nothing to do with coolness. it is because of the laziness of my generation ( just as you have mentioned in an above post ).
P.S, this whole post is a first for me, because it is my first on this forum with perfect ( or near ) punctuation and spelling. Also I feel proud about this.

Then you'll be pleased to know that on this board there is a 10,000 character limit per post and you can make multiple posts every 2 minutes.
So you don't have to worry about writing in full rather than short, as you so quaintly put it.:D
BTW, I was a teenager when I came here and very quickly had to learn the language correctly, for in those days in every school exam ( English or otherwise ) they deducted one mark for every spelling or grammar mistake. So the "I am a teenager" excuse is IMHO crap.

1st that would be really bad for todays kids ( i kid in my english class asked the teacher how to spell suspenseful- and this is the top class of my year - and we've had worse spelling questions than that too. ):D
2nd, i feel really dumb for asking this cos its probably obvious but, what does imho mean.

Sorry sunshine, punctuation mistakes were abundant. There shoiuld not be a space after an opening bracket nor a space before a closing bracket, but, one who is used to cramming so much information into 120 characters must be revelling in the lenient character limits in this forum so a few extra spaces mean nothing.http://www.woodworkforums.ubeaut.com.au/images/icons/icon10.gifhttp://www.woodworkforums.ubeaut.com.au/images/icons/icon10.gifhttp://www.woodworkforums.ubeaut.com.au/images/icons/icon10.gifhttp://www.woodworkforums.ubeaut.com.au/images/icons/icon10.gif
