This is the story of pain and gain in the labour ward.

A couple went to the hospital together to have their baby delivered.
On their arrival, the doctor said he had a revolutionary new machine that would transfer a portion of the mothers labour pain to the father. He asked if they were willing to try it out. Both the husband and the wife agreed that they would like to.

The doctor set the knob to 10% for starters, explaining that 10% was probably more pain than the father had ever experienced. However, as the labour progressed, the husband seemed to be feeling fine,so he asked the doctor to bump it up a notch(bloody fool).

The doctor then adjusted the machine to 20% pain transfer. The husband was still feeling fine. The doctor checked the husbands blood pressure and pu;se and was amazed at how well he was doing.

The couple then decided to try for 50%.Even at this level it did not seem to have any negative effect on the husband.Since it was obviously helping out his wife considerably, the husband encouraged the doctor to transfer all the pain to him.

The wife delivered a healthy baby with virtually no pain. She and her husband were ecstatic. She was even allowed to leave the hospital the same day.

However, later that afternoon, when they got home, they were both distressed to find their next-door neighbour dead on his front lawn.
