Melbourne meet and greet Doug and Jules.

Doug the slug and Jules are visiting Melbourne between the 23 and 28th of February. They have family commitments on both the Friday and Sunday and on the Saturday Jules is attending a course at Holmesglen Tafe until 5 – 5.30 but Doug is at a loose end that day.

They are both keen to meet in person as many of their "online" friends as they can and so I propose holding a BBQ on Saturday afternoon/evening the 25th of February to which you’re all invited.

It would be nice if various members could organize a tour of a few workshops for Doug during the day and finish up at my place and if someone coming past Holmesglen could pickup Jules as they are reliant on public transport or lifts.

You’re all welcome from say 4 – 4.30 onwards, I propose firing up the barbie around 6.30. BYO your own meats and drinks and pm me for the address.

I've got a 2/3 full D/C bag of dust and jointer chips - I'll bring it along.

The last time I just dumped in the garbe wheelie. My neighbour tells me there was a quite impressive 'explosion' of red dust when the garbo chap dumped said wheelie's contents into his truck :D

By early afternoon all was in readines. The work was done and I sat down to have a quiet drink and relax until the guests came.

Whilst having this drink the heavens opened up and the forecast thunderstorm started.

Although most of our bbq area is properly roofed, because of the need of maintenance and opening windows there is a sleeper walkway and small openings in front of the windows. Somehow with the amount of rain it found a way in from the walkway and it was dripping all over the seating area.

In despair we resolved not to cancel, but cook outside and somehow fit everyone inside for the gala event of meeting Doug and Jules.

Fortunately the rains stopped about 4.30 pm and after half an hour the area was cleaned up and dried out just in time for Jules and Steve (Auld Bassoon), who kindly picked her up from Moorabbin and who were quickly followed by Chris ( Waldo) arrival.

brought Doug, who had a day's private turning tution by as the people of his Club demo didn't turn up for they had put the wrong date in their diaries:p :p :p (Is that worth a greenie ?), followed with Al ( Ozwinner) and Libby ( Mrs. Ozwinner).

A lovely time was held, great to meet Doug and Jules and catch up with the rest, and later when the rain started again we adjourned inside for a while.

Al brought along some lovely Cedar, which Doug and I shared, and offered me some stuff that hopefully will fix the rain problem, which I'll pick up on Tuesday. Thanks again Al.

I'll post the photos later when my daughter has loaded them to my computer, must get something in return for that education I provided :D for she is a whizz in that.

My apologies for not attending. As I expalined to Jules on Steve's mobile, Meg and I were frantic saving my shed from drowning. It got fairly wet (some parts 2 inches deep) but our efforts saved most of it. It's OK now - just a bit damp but not wet.

Hope the shed is drying out OK WoodBorer, haven't seen any planes floating down to my neck of the woods so they must be high and dry. (had a minor bit of flooding of about 7ft into my shed, just had to pull some timber of the floor and she was right)

I thought you might have dropped in to arrest me on the weekend Dan. The additional water was caused this time and last year by a neighbour who after building a new house has not fixed up his backyard. We now get all his water and clay.:mad: :mad: :mad:

I shouted some threatening and rude words towards his house. Kind words didn't resolve the problem 12 months ago.
