Downpipe construction

Can anyone give me a brief outline on how to cut and join the angle joins for rectangular downpipe. Thanks in advance!

I dunno 'bout for downpipes, but I've done my fair share of galv box conduits to protect lagged aircon pipes. 'Tis really quite simple, but unfortunately, the PC I'm using right now doesn't have any gfx sw for a simple sketch so you'll have to wade through my 1000 words instead. :o

Anyways, I simply mark a squared line right around the piece at the spot to be bent then, on each side, two diagonals (each at half the total desired angle) to mark out the wedge of material that could be removed. With a hacksaw, I cut the squared line through one face and the two sides, leaving only the "back" face intact as the "hinge." Then, again using a hacksaw, make one of the diagonal cuts, thus removing "half" of the wedge. I then use tin-snips to cut along the corners down to the other marked diagonal, this makes flaps to solder/rivet the joint when it's all closed up. Everything's then bent to shape, personally I find it easier to have the flaps over the outside of the opposite pipe but there are others who go the extra effort of tucking 'em inside, as it looks better.

I'd imagine you'd need to be sure they won't catch any debris if you run 'em up the inside though.

If you are using the rectangular polypipe, just buy the premade joins and use them the same way you would as for the round polypipe using pvc joint cement. Have a look here for some hints on joining pvc pipe (http://www.iplex.com.au/products/stoinstal-assemb.shtm)

Bunnies sell the top angle section in a sliding arrangment (adjusts closer or further away from building wall) for I think I paid about $25. I was going to do my own joint until I saw this and said "why bother". Its sometimes called a "periscope" and comes in zincalume and 2 pieces.
